On the autumnal eve of Saturday, October Seventh, in the shadowy embrace of a resurrected century-old church, the Festival of Darkness returns. Within the hallowed walls, a meticulous selection of short films, a spectacle of darkness and horror crafted by local and distant filmmakers, shall grace the screen for approximately ninety haunting minutes.
The Festival of Darkness will be hosted at The Narthex, a reanimated historic 1900’s church located within the East Canfield neighborhood of Detroit. Seating will include pew benches and individual seats for up to 250 patrons. A cash-only concession stand will be present and staffed parking is available for $5.
GIVING BACK – Half of the admission sales will benefit New Path Villages, a Detroit-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization creating self-managed communities of cost-effective tiny homes for people in need of housing. Housing is a basic human need that everyone deserves and New Path Villages seeks to bridge the often insurmountable gap between the street and conventional housing with an inclusive tiny home emergency shelter option.
Admission is only $10 and advance tickets are now available. Doors open at 7pm with showtime at 8pm. Staffed parking is available for $5.
NOTE: Due to mature content and themes, this event is 18+ only. See the 2023 film schedule for synopses on each film.
